General
My research is mainly focused on energy systems analysis with special emphasis on bioenergy, biorefineries, biofuels for transportation, and efficient integration of biorefinery pathways in existing industrial infrastructures. I am also working on cost-efficient localization of biorefineries with regard to integration possibilities, plant sizes and transport distances for raw materials and products and has been involved in work with the BeWhere model since mid-2000. Since 2014, I act as the Director of the Swedish Centre for Biomass Gasification (SFC), a national research program involving nine Swedish universities and research institutes and numerous industrial companies. The program duration is 10 years and has a total budget of approximately 58 million Euro. I am also a member of the board of The Swedish Competence Centre for Renewable Transportation Fuels (f3) the Swedish representative in IEA Bioenergy Task 33, Gasification of Biomass and Waste. I am since 2017, also Senior Research Scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria.
