Jonny Nilimaa works as a Senior Lecturer and researcher in the Department of Structural and Fire Engineering at Luleå University of Technology. He defended his thesis, Concrete Bridges - Improved Load Capacity, in 2015. His research is focusing on sustainable structures, from the development of green materials and methods for new construction to extending the life of old structures.

Jonny is the faculty program director for the Higher Education Diploma Programs in the Built Environment and Work Management in Civil Engineering and he teaches course elements within the Master of Science (MSc) Programs in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Industrial and Management Engineering, as well as the Real Estate Brokerage Program.
