Madeleine is the first municipal PhD-student in a collaboration of Stockholm City and Luleå Technical University, via VINNOVA's competence centre DRIZZLE - Centre for Stormwater Management. She is located at the environment department in Stockholm and started her PhD research in April 2018.
Madeleine's research field focuses on microplastic and microlitter in urban runoff. The ubiquity of microplastic particles in our environment is today well known, but there are still many knowledge gaps that needs to be filled. The sources and quantity of microplastic particles in urban runoff is one of them, and is where Madeleine focuses her research.
Previously, Madeleine completed the master program Environmental and Water Engineering at the department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University. Her master thesis focused on the possibility of characterizing black carbon in snow, with respect to the dielectric properties of the particles.
