Research Areas

-Wood mechanics and wood design, primarily through computer simulations, often with the finite element method. Applied research based on industrial needs that involves mechanical, thermal and moistureinfluenced behavior of wood (e.g lumber), wooden structures (such as glue-laminated and cross-laminated timber) and wood products (such as timber bridges, timber buildings and wooden structures).


-Machining of wood, cutting tools and sawmill machinery.

Teaching and supervision

Teaches courses on wood mechanics, structural design of wood products, solid mechanics, finite elements, wood machining etc. Supervises PhD students in the field of wood mechanics and machining and cutting of wood.
