Suna Ekin Kali
Luleå University of Technology
Suna joined to the Urban Water Engineering group in April, 2022.
Suna's research interests are modeling and monitoring stormwater quality. More specifily, she carries out a number of sampling events on stormwater recipients in three localities with different populations density in Sweden to determine the impact of stormwater runoff on the receiving water body quality. The samples will be analyzed for microplastics, metals, nutrients, PAHs, PFAs, Phthalates, organotin compounds, alkylphenols, and several support parameters, namely pH, conductivity, turbidity, and suspended solids.
Also, she works on an interdisciplinary project that aims to investigate different scenarios for sustainable stormwater management with blue-green infrastructure. Her role in this project will be to set up a stomwater model to analyze the scenarios regarding water quality.
Suna holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering with a concentration in environmental modeling and water resources from Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA. Her master thesis focused on incorporating effective watershed management policies in the modeling environment to estimate the availability of water resources under changing land use and climate in the Schuylkill River Watershed.
