Background
Thomas joined Entrepreneurship and Innovation and started his PhD studies in 2017. Prior to this, he was employed as a project researcher at the Economics unit at LTU, where he has worked on a diversity of topics including energy economics, economic impact assessment, sustainable mining, and regional development. He has also worked as an independent consultant on projects related to extractive industry development.
Research
Thomas' current research considers drivers and outcomes of regional entrepreneurial and innovative activity, with a particular focus on the role of agglomeration externalities. In addition to his PhD studies, he regularly engages in applied, policy-oriented work commissioned by regional authorities in Norrbotten County. The work has included sector-level analyses of strategic challenges and opportunities, as well as quantitative studies of a variety of issues related to regional economic development.
