Research

Major research areas of interest are:

  • Dam engineering (earthfill dams)
  • Materials for construction purpose
  • Cold Region Engineering

In dam engineering major focus is on earth fill dams, tailing dams and tailing materials. Current research projects are related to internal erosion and long term properties of tailing materials. The research is conducted in collaboration with Svenskt Vattenkraftscentrum, SVC, (The Swedish Hydropower Centre).

The research coupled to materials in construction work focuses on efficient use from engineering and environmental point of view in civil engineering such as road, railway and heavy construction. The research focuses on beneficial use of secondary materials, LCC-aspects and energy efficiency.

The Cold Region Research is related to artificial freezing as remediation technique and snow. The snow research has two focus areas; snow management for mainly the tourism business and snow mechanics for construction purposes.
