Exam with Inspera from home

For the exam from home with Inspera, you write your exam on your own computer. Home examination with Inspera can take place with or without supervision, based on the examiner's choice of examination form.

Instructions for the exam with digital monitoring can be found at the bottom of the page.

Preparations you need to make well in advance of the exam

Before you write your exam with Inspera from home, you need to ensure a few things:

  • Make sure your computer meets the system requirements: Make sure the operating system on your PC or MAC is of the correct version and that your browser is supported. Inspect system requirements
  • Make sure you have an internet connection.
  • Make sure that the environment surronding you during the exam is calm and quite.


You can test Inspera by doing a demo exam

You have the opportunity to do a demo exam with Inspera before your examination to get to know the exam tool. Your answers will not be saved or corrected and you can do demo exams as many times as you want.

  • Open a web browser and enter in the address field:
  • Click on "Log in with your LTU ID".
  • You will find demo exams under the heading "Demo exams".


Checklist on exam day

Prepare by:

  • Connect computer to power source
  • Bring out pencil and eraser
  • Develop any permitted aids.
  • Read through any special instructions for the exam if such have been assigned by the examiner / course coordinator.

Here's how to get ready for your exam:

  • Make sure your computer is connected to a network.
  • Shut down active programs (including notifications from emails and the like)
  • Open a web browser and enter in the address field:
  • Log in with your LTU ID.
  • Choose your exam and read the information about it.
  • Open the exam when the writing time begins.


Exam instructions for digital monitoring:

For exams from home with Inspera which is carried out with digital monitoring, these instructions apply:

  • Students must be logged in to Zoom 45 minutes before the exam starts.
  • Have access to approved valid identification
    • A valid LTU card is also an approved ID document for examination
  • The sound and microphone must be switched on.
  • Headset/headphones are not allowed during the exam.
  • The camera must be switched on and aimed at the student and the writing area.
  • Only one screen and one device may be used.
  • Screen sharing must be applied.
  • Only Inspera, Zoom and any digital aids may be open.
  • All communication with the examiner takes place via chat.
  • Students may not leave the examination supervision without OK from the examination supervisor.
    • If the internet connection fails, try connecting again.
    • When reconnecting, contact the examiner in the chat and let them know what happened.
    • If problems persist, call the examiner and report your problem.
  • Notify the examiner if solutions for the exam are to be uploaded in Inspera.
    • Wait OK from the exam supervisor before using a mobile phone to photograph solutions and then upload answers to Inspera.
    • Notify the examiner when the answers have been uploaded.
  • Notify the examiner when the exam is ready to be submitted.
    • Wait OK from the exam supervisor.
  • The zoom room may be left after OK from the exam supervisor.

You must be prepared for the examiner to request to see your ID document. This takes place in so-called break out rooms in Zoom, ie the exam supervisor takes you to a private zoom room with only you and the exam supervisor.
