Crediting
Students who are admitted to and conduct studies at Luleå University of Technology can apply for a credit transfer of studies within an educational program or single subject course. This applies to both Swedish and foreign education. Other equivalent knowledge and skills from professional activities can also be the basis for a credit transfer.
Important to keep in mind
Keep in mind that your study plan may change when you have credited part of your education. There are no guarantees that you will be admitted to the course that you want to continue with after your credit transfer, which means that there may be gaps in your continued study plan. This, in turn, can have consequences for your student finance from CSN the current semester. You may need to apply for another course during the period the course that you have credited goes.
Before you apply for a credit transfer
You should be able to answer yes to the following questions to avoid having to supplement your application and extend the processing time or get your application rejected.
- Are you a student at Luleå University of Technology, ie admitted to and conducting studies?
- Have you at least a grade Pass on your previous studies? (Only a completed course or a module in a course, with at least a passing grade, can be the basis for a credit transfer)
- Do you have all the attachments that need to be sent with the application? (Read more about what documents are needed below).
When do I not have to apply for a credit transfer?
You don´t have to apply for a credit transfer if you have completed courses from a recognized Swedish university and you have room in your degree to include elective courses. Instead, you include the courses in conjunction with your degree application.
If you have changed programs within LTU and you have studied a course that is part of both programs, you do not need to apply for a credit transfer. The course is included in conjunction with your degree application.
