Proposal for a degree project at Alimak in Skellefteå:

1. Product development of crane for installation
The installation of an Alimach lift includes heavy lifting of components and equipment. A fast and safe installation are factors that are important to the customer. Alimak therefore wants to develop a new tool to streamline and facilitate installation.
Education: Master of Science in Machine Design or Technical Design

2. New mast anchorage for construction lifts
We are conducting development to refine our calculation models for anchoring forces and the new calculation models could enable new anchorages that simplify the installation for the customer, how should these be best designed?
Education: Master of Science in Machine Design or Technical Design

3. New short mast anchorage for industrial lifts
Our industrial lifts are often mounted with the mast near the building facade, but since buildings are often differently shaped, the anchors must also be able to handle this. How should future anchors for industrial elevators be designed to facilitate installation?
Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

4. Load flaps
When our industrial lifts are loaded from the ground plane, the weight from the load can cause a deflection of the elevator car which causes a level difference to the ground plane. To solve this, we now offer hydraulic flaps as accessories, which are folded down to lock the lift at the ground plane. Could this function be solved in any better way than with hydraulics?

5. Floor plan door for construction lift
Our construction elevators are temporary installations that are often built up when, for example, erecting skyscrapers. The floor plan doors must be easy to install without leaving marks on the building when they are removed and fit a variety of different types of installations. How could the ground floor door of the future be designed to be easily installed, used and functioned to fit as many different buildings and elevator models as possible?

6. Material development of high-strength steels for load-bearing structures
Which steels should Alimak choose to be able to develop tomorrow's products?

7. Frequencies and self-oscillations in elevator installations
Develop calculation methods to evaluate natural oscillations in elevator installations
Education: Master of Science in Technical Physics or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on calculation

8. Development of energy transfer systems
How will Alimak streamline energy transfer and reduce energy consumption for its products?
Education: Master of Science in Automation or Energy Technology

9. Graphical user interface for our control system
How and what information should be presented to the user in the elevator
Education: Master of Science in Computer Science

10. Ergonomics during installation
There are increasing demands on ergonomics for fitters who install construction lifts in the field. How is the product's design best adapted?
Education: Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Technical Design

11. Design for future products
How will Alimak design its future products to convey robustness and quality, among other things, with design language?

12. Analysis model of prices
Analysis of pricing within two purchasing categories as well as the creation and validation of analysis model. The model will analyze the price picture within the category area to investigate whether the prices are consistent and adequate to compare at an appropriate parameter level.

13. Development of braking resistance
As we have higher capacity and reach higher heights, the energy generated from the motors in the downward direction must be burned off.How should the design and capacity of the brake resistors be shaped to ensure efficient operation?

14. Alternative voltage supply
As we have higher capacity and reach higher heights, the energy supply must be reviewed in the supply cable
to avoid congestion.

To reduce the need for more cable for communication, we want to look at the possibilities with Power Line Communication.

16. Develop a mechatronic solution for large gates / doors for our construction lifts
Develop a secure solution that can withstand robust environments and power outages.The project includes both the development of hardware, software and mechatrionics.

17. Automatic identification of floor plan positions
To increase productivity and safety, we want to develop a solution that can automatically program an elevator to identify the ground plan. The project includes both electronics for positioning and software development.

18. Visualization of the status of the elevator
An elevator consists of lots of components and subsystems, how can the status of different systems and components be best visualized so that different user groups can get the right and relevant information at the right time. The project mainly contains software development.
