Collaborative processes, consultation and dialogue in road projects
The Swedish Road Administration and other public actors need to further develop methods that give actors, other parties, stakeholders and the public greater opportunities to participate in processes where infrastructure projects are to be integrated with urban development, for example through consultations, citizen dialogues, charrettes and planning workshops and other collaborative methods.
This project has analyzed how different methods have been applied nationally and internationally in recent years. Conclusions have been drawn from Swedish and international experiences of methods for dialog and consultation in road projects and forms of collaboration between actors/responsible parties in combined road and urban construction. An inventory of different types and forms of collaboration methods is made with examples of practical implementation. Analysis and comparison is made with statutory consultations under similar conditions as in extended cooperation situations.
Responsible: Kristina L Nilsson in collaboration with Catarina Holdar Tyréns in Stockholm
The project was completed in 2010 and was financed within the Swedish Road Administration's SNE-RPD Center of Excellence - Road, Planning and Design
