Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and Basic knowledge in the area of system science corresponding to a bachelor degree.

The selection is based on 1-165 credits.

Course Aim

After the course the student will be able to:

  • find a project.
  • apply knowledge in one or several of the phases in the system development process.
  • have skills in cooperation, planning, and carrying through an information systems development project in a business.

The course is for those students that are studying system science and want to apply their knowledge on projects in a concrete project to get an insight in the work of a system scientist. Knowledge of experienced information systems developer should be identified and valued.

The students are responsible to get a project and a supervisor in an organisation. The students make a project plan in cooperation with the supervisor. The students write a detailed diary of the work and hours spend in the project and following-up and/or revising the project plan. The diary should be submitted to the teacher every week. The project is carried through as a subproject with connections to other projects in cooperation with other experienced system developers, and with a group of end users.

  • A description of the project and the tasks.
  • A time report approved by the supervisor.
  • A detailed diary. • An analysis of what you have learned and references to relevant theory.
  • A presentation of the analysis and of the information system and an approval of the realization and the results of the project.
  • A short description of the project to be published on the website of The Department of System Science.

The course can start whenever the student wants but it has to be completed within 4 month.
