The selection is based on final school grades or Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test.

Course Aim
The aim of the course is to give the students, the general GIS user as well as specialists, ability to produce well designed and informative maps. Further more the students shall obtain a deepened understanding to methods and techniques for visualizing geographical data from different data sources. Focus on practical work. In addition the students shall know something about producers and legislation in this subject field.

- Cartography Cartographic basics Visual variables Generalization Symbolizing Colour systems and colouration Lettering a map Layout Presentation of statistics Maps from different data sources Maps for different kinds of media, WWW, handheld device - Software ArcGIS - ArcMap

Lectures, laboratory work. No compulsory lectures.

The course is examined with approved written completed assignments and project work.
