In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and The course M0043M Mathematics II - Calculus and linear algebra or equivalent..

Course Aim

After the course, students should

  • have further deepended the knowledge of and be familiar with key mathematical concepts, methods and logical structures necessary for independent work as an engineer
  • have knowledge in complex numbers, ordinary differential equations of first and second order and transform theory
  • have developed their capacity for critical reflection, planning and mathematical modeling
  • be able to use mathematics as an effective tool for further studies in mathematics, science, technology and economics and in professional life
  • have deepended the knowledge in the use of modern computer-aided calculation and algebra systems.


Complex numbers.
Differential equations: Ordinary differential equations, systems of differential equations. Applications. Improper integrals.
Series. Transform Theory and Applications.
Computer-aided calculations.


Teaching is through lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions. Other forms of teaching can occur.


To pass the course requires an approved individual written exam.
The course is graded.
Required computer laboratory assignments to be reported and approved.
Alternative forms of examination may occur.
