Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and the course assumes knowledge equivalent to: M0085H Radiografi grundkurs I M0026H Anatomi och fysiologi I inriktning radiologi M0096H Sjukdomslära I inriktning radiografi M0097H Radiografi II M0100H Radiografi III M0070H Allmän farmakologi, kontrastmedel och läkemedelsberäkning M0102H Vetenskaplig teori och metod I inriktning radiografi M0101H Sjukdomslära och anatomi II inriktning radiografi M0103H Radiografi IV

The selection is based on 1-165 credits.

Course Aim
The objectives are specifically opted towards magnetic resonance imaging, CT scan, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, transillumination and interventional radiology 

Upon completion of the course, the student shall be able to

  • Describe the foundational technical and physical principles
  • Describe how the survey parameters affect image quality in regularly occurring examinations
  • Describe radiation protection measures and patient safety


  • Physics and technology within magnetic resonance imaging
  • Physics and technology within tomography
  • Physics and technology in nuclear medicine
  • Physics and technology in ultrasound
  • Physics and technology in transillumination
  • Radiation hygiene and medical safety

Each course occasion´s language and form is stated and appear on the course page on Luleå University of Technology's website.
Education and learning is conducted through independent study, assignments, and seminars. Lectures are given within selected course sections. 

The course content modules and their routes of teaching are specifically opted towards the radiology nursing profession.

If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.
The course is examined and assessed through individual and/or group hand-in assignments, seminars, and exams. 

To pass the entire course, passing grades are required on all parts of the course, and compulsory parts must be completed.

This course must be passed before you are admitted to the course in semester 6.

Transition terms
This programme curriculum is valid from the spring semester of 2020 for all students who are admitted to the programme at that time. Programme coordinators and heads of department decide on individual study plans for students who have been admitted to a previous programme curriculum and resume their studies according to the current programme curriculum following a break in their studies.

If a course has ceased or has undergone major changes, the students will be offered two opportunities for examination in the first year after the change has taken place, and then once a year for a further 2 years, based on the course syllabus that applied at the time of registration
