Entry requirements

Sufficient knowledge depth within the area of engineering sciences. Knowledge in engineering design, production/manufacturing techniques, and computer supported tools for product development.

Course Aim

Divided into 3 categories below, after the course you as a student shall:

1. Knowledge and understanding

  • be able to apply, analyze and reflect on theory, processes and methods for engineering product development.
  • be able to relate to the business models, development processes, production/manufacturing, and product life cycles and be able to participate in the further development of these.
  • have gained insight about structure, contents and language in engineering reports.

2. Skills and Abilities

  • have got the ability to apply engineering product development.
  • have got the ability to apply engineering report writing.

3. Judgement and approach

  • be able to do feasibility assessments in various phases of engineering product development.

  • Products and product development processes in relation to product lifecycle
  • Project management, project organisation, project follow-up and project risks
  • Requirements during product lifecycle
  • Needs and requirements analysis, idea/concept generation, modelling & simulation, concept generation & selection, also in relation to production & manufacturing
  • Detail design and prototyping
  • Production & Manufacturing
  • Product development in relation to production planning and production capacity
  • Company business models and relationship to product development

Lectures, tutorials, project work.

Approved project work, including oral presentations and written reports.

The course can not be included in a degree together with M7015T or M7023T.
