Selection

The selection is based on 1-165 credits.



Course Aim
The student should, on completion of the course, be able to:
  • formulate a scientific nursing issue
  • systematically search scientific literature in electronic databases
  • critically review and evaluate reports and scientific articles
  • apply research-ethics principles
  • plan, carry out, document and defend a scientific work in the subject nursing
  • document a scientific work
  • critically review and argue for proposals for changes and assess other students' theses as well as defending his/her own work
  • identify his/her need for additional knowledge for continuous skill development

Contents
  • Plan, carry out and document a scientific work.
  • Search of scientific literature in relevant databases for nursing
  • Critical review and analysis of collected data
  • Practise and carry out being an opponent and a respondent.

Realization
The course is carried out as an independent scientific work with compulsory supervision. The students work in pairs. Regular seminars in supervisory groups that follow the work process are an important element in the course. The supervisor is appointed by the department. Attendance is compulsory at seminars.

Examination
Written report and seminar where the student takes the role as opponent/respondent. Grading criteria for Pass and Pass with distinction are stated in the study guide

Remarks
The course is given for first-cycle studies within the nursing programme. Study supervision is provided in the course room in Canvas.

Transition terms
The course replaces HOV040 (Nursing C). The title of this course has been revised 14/12/2009. Level designation C removed.
