Education level Second cycle Grade scale U G VG * Subject Nursing Subject group (SCB) Nursing Science Entry requirementsO7009H Nursing in Emergency Care 7,5 credits M7001H Medical Science in Emergency Care 7,5 credits More information about English language requirements SelectionThe selection is based on 20-285 creditsCourse Aim On completion of the course, the student should be able to: observe, assess, analyse and document care and nursing patients' needs for nursing interventions and medically indicated measures describe how acute, seriously ill individuals and their family can experience a changed life situation demonstrate self-awareness and reflective empathetic ability as well as demonstrate a professional attitude vis-à-vis patients and their family explain and understand the function of the ambulance and use the medical engineering equipment that is used in prehospital care explain how collaboration with different agencies through communication equipment works and how the prehospital chain of care functions apply current laws and regulations document scientifically and describe different qualitative research methods and be able to formulate research issues based on qualitative research design identify the need for additional knowledge for continuous skill development Contents Being acutely, seriously ill and the experience of being a relative Nursing interventions and medically indicated measures for seriously ill/injured individuals Prehospital nursing The ambulance's equipment, driving characteristics and traffic laws Medical engineering devices and communication equipment Cooperation within ambulance, SOS alarm, rescue service and other medical authorities Ethics Application of interview and observation technique Research ethics Evidence-based nursing Documentation of care and nursing Scientific documentation and critical review Current laws and regulations in the area Realization Each course occasion´s language and form is stated and appear on the course page on Luleå University of Technology's website. Teaching and learning take place through lectures, individual studies, study assignments, seminars and placement under supervision. Participation in laboratory sessions, seminars and placement is compulsory.Examination If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided. Written examination. Assessment of professional competence. Grading criteria for Pass and Pass with distinction are stated in the study guide Only one transfer is given for the course with respect to the placement. If there are special circumstances, a further transfer can be granted. Special circumstances are those stated in regulations from the National Agency for Higher Education HSVFS 1999:1.Remarks The course is given for second-cycle studies within specialist training to become a nurse in prehospital care and is a placement course. This course, with clinical placement are subject to Special rules regarding clinical placement according to Head of Department decision.
