Study visit to LKAB nad Icehotel
Early on Tuesday morning, February 7, 2018, some fifty fire engineer students from Luleå University of Technology boarded the bus to Kiruna. After about four hours of travel, they arrived in Kiruna and the study visit at LKAB began.
Then they aboard the bus to the viewing mines LKAB's Visitor Center at 540 meters level and of course, the guides first and foremost carried out a safety review - safety goes first!
Right down the display mine, the guides told me about the company and partly about modern mining and how it could have a whole city to move. Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag, LKAB, is a mining group owned by the Swedish state, founded in 1890 with iron ore mining in Kiruna and Malmberget, and the company is Europe's largest iron ore producer.

Before the home tour, the Icehotel was also visited by Torne River. Icehotel changes its shape every year. In parallel with the ice hotel, they also have Icehotel 365 which is a permanent construction with an ice gallery, ice cream parlor, artificial sweets and luxury sweets.
