Environmental sampling of sediment and water in Niemisel
In the course of Environmental Assessment and Evaluation (L7025K), students from the third year of The Master Programme in Natural Resources Engineering (With focus on environment and water) and new master students in the field of Geoscience have tried fieldwork.
"The study days were held in Niemisel, which is about an hour by car from the university campus in Luleå. During the day, students learned to take sediments and water samples from boat and land, as well as learn about sampling strategies and sources of error. The students also visited places where current research is ongoing regarding iron isotope measurements in watercourses", saysLina Hällström, PhD Student in Applied Geochemistry.
Nice weather and dedicated students were combined with lunch around the fire where everyone contributed and it was offered on crêpes, coffee and other good.
In the Environmental sampling and evaluation course you will learn to take samples in water, soil, waste and how to assess the results.
