Nordic meeting for fire engineers 2019

Published: 17 September 2019

Nordic meeting is a forum for fire engineers training in the Nordic countries. Here, representatives, experts, teachers and students, from the various educational institutions and stakeholders, will meet to create contacts and exchange ideas.

At this year's edition of this gathering held at Luleå University of Technology, the theme was collaboration between the universities, research collaboration and recruitment of students for the programs.

"One of the most important points that we discussed was what knowledge and skills that a fire engineering student should have developed during the programme", says Michael Försth, professor at Luleå University of Technology.

"We want the Nordic countries to be able to cooperate and help each other in the best possible way, and then a common view on skills development is a good foundation", says Michael Försth.

Participants in the Nordic Meeting 2019 were the fire engineering courses at Luleå University of Technology, University of Lund, University College of Western Norway, Technical University of Denmark and Aalto University. Parts of the conference were open to the public.

The fire engineering program at Luleå University of Technology is a 2-years with the opportunity to study a supplementary programme for a civil engineer degree in fire engineering with a focus on fire safety for constructions.
