Associate Professor of English at the Department of Arts, Communication and Education

Cathrine Norberg is Associate Professor of English at Luleå University of Technology. Her research interest is linguistics with a focus on gender. She has been involved in a number of research projects where corpus linguistics has been used to study gender, and has published a number of articles, and also her thesis, within this field. Corpus linguistic methods have also been used in projects to study representations of northerness.  

She is currently involved in a project combining corpus linguistics and critical discourse analysis to study the gendered construction of mining.  This project is conducted in collaboration with Ylva Fätholm, professor in Human Work Science. The project has been supported by VINNOVA.

Together with her colleague Marie Nordlund she is also involved in a project where corpus linguistic methods are used to study vocabulary in English textbooks used in Swedish schools. 


Cathrine Norberg is the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
