Healthy ageing, walking and the outdoor environment in the North
The purpose of the research project is to find out how people aged 70 and older living in the north experience their outdoor space for action and movement in their neighborhood. As well as what is perceived as hindering and enabling factors, especially in winter. The project is funded by the Nordic Council and the Kamprad Family Foundation
In a related research project, factors (psychological, physical, social, etc.) of importance for living space mobility and engagement in everyday activities during aging are identified, and an interprofessional proactive model in primary care is developed. An interprofessional, proactive and comprehensive model to promote everyday activity and mobility in the elderly

Human motion in changing environments
Agneta Larsson's practice and research is Medical Science. My educational background includes integrative physiology and a Master's degree in Medical Science from Karolinska Institute, Stockholm and a Doctoral degree in Physiotherapy from Lulea University of Technology (LTU). My thesis focused on risk and safety analyses, management and interactions between environmental conditions and human behaviour. A particular focus of my research is the significance of the environment, social context and people's self-efficacy beliefs for physical performance and mobility. Located in the subarctic area of northern Scandinavia, the research activities of my group explore how built outdoor environments & seasonal climate variations, as well as people's balance control, attitudes & experiences affect how a person feels comfortable to move in the outdoor environment.
I am a board member of the Nordic Society for Circumpolar Health (NSCH) (2018-2024), aiming to promote and spread interest in scientific studies of healthcare problems in polar, subpolar, and similar environments.Currently I'm working within the European Space University for Earth and Humanity (UNIVERSEH), and here especially focusing on equity, inclusion and sustainability in education and mobility, as leader for WP 6 from LTUS side.
