Björn Emmoth

About me

I work part-time as an adjunct university lecturer alongside my job as the principal of the School of the Arts in Kalix. My background includes serving as principal since the year 2000, prior to that, and partly in addition to the role as principal, I have worked as a music teacher after graduating from the Musikhögskolan in Piteå. I have been actively involved in the Swedish Council of Schools of the Arts for a long time, including serving as the vice-chair for eight years. My network is extensive, spanning a wide range of projects on regional, national, and international levels over many years. I have also been a union representative for teachers, but primarily for school leaders.

Currently, in 2025/2026, ongoing research is being conducted in two main areas: within the field of arts schools, focusing on equity, accessibility, identity, and leadership; and within the framework of a project in Uganda, where the research focus is mainly on the implementation process of a new curriculum, learner-centred education, and creative and critical thinking. Additionally, I am part of an EU project (Food Education for the Future), where LTU, LST, and Kalix Municipality are the Swedish actors working on both concrete activities in schools and related research.
