Short information
My research interests include network protocols, IoT, cloud-based and distributed data processing, AI/ML, performance analysis, and cybersecurity. For the past 10+ years, my research has addressed digital solutions for various societal functions, often referred to as work with 'Smart Cities/Regions'.
I have my master's degree in computer science from Uppsala University. In February 2005, I completed my Ph.D. in Media Technology at Luleå University of Technology (LTU). In 2008, I became an Associate Professor in Mobile Systems and established a new research field in Mobile Systems at LTU, and I was promoted to Professor in the subject in 2011. Later, in 2011, I became the Chaired Professor for the Pervasive and Mobile Computing research area at LTU. I have also served as the Scientific Director for one of LTU's former areas of strength within research and innovation, Enabling ICT (2013-2019), and was the head of department (2003-2012). In 2016, I initiated the establishment of the center formation 'Security in Society and Critical Infrastructures' at LTU. In addition to my academic background, I have 12 years of experience in the ICT industry.
