My PhD research is focusing on the prevention of Acid Mine Drainage generation through pyrite microencapsulation. In my master's thesis, I worked on recovering valuable Rare Earth Metals from historical tailings by using a novel extraction method. Prior to starting my PhD, I worked in the exploration of skarn-hosted Fe deposit, epithermal Cu-(Au), lateritic nickel, and as a consulting geologist for engineering geology and geothermal development projects for years. I have a strong interest in mineralogy, water chemistry, leaching experiments and applying a diverse set of analytical techniques that can help us uncover the elemental mobility in mine wastes environments.
