Dina Shona Laila
Professor and Head of Subject
Research subject: Automatic Control
Division: Signals and Systems
Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering
Brief Information
Dina Shona Laila is the Chair Professor in the Automatic Control subject group, Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering, Luleå University of Technology (LTU). She joined LTU in 2023, after a rich international academic and research career in several countries including Australia, Austria, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Japan and the UK.
Research
Dina's main research interests are in the area of control and instrumentation. Coming from a theoretical background, her PhD thesis on Design and Analysis for Nonlinear Sampled Data Control Systems has been one of the main references for people working in the area, applied to various classes of nonlinear dynamical systems.
Her research has since expanded, not only in control theory, but also address various applications for control and systems monitoring, including in automotive, power system network, electromechanical systems and robotics, bridge infrastructure, and agriculture, to mention a few.
Teaching
Dina has the experience of teaching various courses related to control engineering and mechatronics for undergraduate and postgraduate levels and for industry. She also has the experience of developing education programs in undergraduate and post graduate levels.
Currently, she teaches the following courses in LTU:
- R0004E Control and Modelling (Teacher, Examiner and Coordinator)
- R0005E Control and Measurement (Teacher)
