About me
Elin Ruth is PhD student in English and Education. She started her PhD studies in October 2021 and is part of the doctoral school PROFS (Practice-based Educational Research). Elin has a master’s degree in education and has previously worked as a lecturer at Luleå University of Technology. Moreover, she has experience in teaching English to adult learners.
Elin’s thesis project explores the benefits and challenges of collaborative writing in English in school years 4–6 (pupils aged 10–12). This includes studies of pupils’ dyadic interaction in collaborative writing tasks, textual analyses and interviews with teachers and pupils. The study will be conducted in collaboration with in-service English teachers.
In addition to her PhD studies, Elin teaches English courses within the teacher-training programmes and stand-alone courses, such as Creative Writing in English. Elin has also contributed to developing tailor-made in-service educational courses, for example Business English.
Elin is a member of the Swedish Society for the Study of English (SWESSE), the Swedish Association for Applied Linguistics (ASLA) and the Swedish Language Teachers' Society. In spring 2025, she is visiting the LASLAB External link. research group at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.
