About me
Since my early undergraduate studies, I have been attracted to field of structural design. This has allowed me to be involved in multiple projects dealing with the structural design and assessment of new and existing structures. I have also been involved in strengthening and retrofitting of existing structures. This has shaped my academic and professional career as I realized the growing worldwide need to develop methodologies for the assessment of the capacity of existing structures and the development of cost-efficient intervention techniques.
My career has been developed through a dynamic mixture of consultancy and academia, combining the fields of research with hands-on experience in both public and private sectors. This unique mix has provided me a comprehensive view of structural engineering from both a scholarly and practical standpoint, allowing me to apply my expertise effectively where it is most needed.
I really enjoy teamwork environments in which the unique strengths of each member are used to their fullest potential. This preference for collaborative collaboration doesn't prevent me from stepping into leadership roles when necessary, guiding our collective efforts towards achieving our goals.
Outside of work, I'm passionate about traveling and discovering new places, seeking out fresh experiences and perspectives.
Research interests
My academic and professional trajectory has allowed me to get specific expertise in the assessment of existing structures and in the analytical and experimental investigation of strengthening techniques, including the use of innovative materials. My recent research interests have built on these skills and focus on methods to extend the lifespan of existing structures through a comprehensive assessment of their residual capacity with the aim of improving the sustainability of the construction industry.
My objectives are to:
- Study innovative solutions for the repair and strengthening of existing and/or damaged structures,
- Work towards the development and optimization of structural health monitoring methodologies,
- Quantify the effect that enhanced structural health monitoring, and maintenance and interventions strategies have on extending the lifespan of structural assets strategies.
