Levien Melse
Doctoral Student
Research subject: Urban Water Engineering
Division: Architecture and Water
Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering
About me
Levien's main research interest is in source-separated wastewater systems, specifically in the greywater stream. Levien's focus is on the reuse of greywater for potable and non-potable use, with a special interest in the negative role micropollutants can play in reuse processes. Levien is focused on the chemical analysis of micropollutants in the greywater stream. Currently Levien is developing a shortlist of micropollutant indicators that will be used to monitor micropollutant quantity in multiple greywaters.
Levien joined the Urban Water Research group at LTU in May 2023. Previously, Levien completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Environmental Sciences with a focus on Environmental Technology at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands. In his master’s thesis, Levien investigated the degradation of aromatic hydrocarbons in batch and flowthrough column experiments, under both aerobic and anaerobic environments.
