About me
Linnea Körlof, PhD student in occupational therapy, reg. Occupational therapist. The focus of my research is to support older adults' social participation. My further research interest is to support the development of the occupational therapy profession in a more health-promoting direction. And in that development, to use the possibilities of digitalisation to increase the accessibility and equality of occupational therapy interventions.
I am a PhD student in the research project "The Health Web- evelopment and testing of a new digital occupational therapy group intervention". I am affiliated with the national graduate school on ageing and health, SWEAH.
The demographic development with an ageing population and fewer people of working age challenges today's health care. The ongoing transition to good and close care emphasises that health care needs to be made more accessible and that we need to develop more person-centred and health-promoting approaches, also to use the potential of digitalisation through the development of e-health. At the same time, we know that loneliness and involuntary isolation is a public health problem, with older adults being a particularly vulnerable group. Social participation can be seen as a counterpoint to loneliness, with research showing that social participation is an important factor in improving the physical and social health of older adults. Older adults also risk digital exclusion as it is more common that older adults do not use digital solutions to such an extent in their everyday activities.
In our project, we want to gain more knowledge about older adults's own strategies to promote their social participation, and develop and test the feasibility of a new occupational therapy group intervention that is given digitally and aims to support older adults's in buildning strategies that supports their social participation and meaningful activities.
I also teach in a number of different courses related to the subject of occupational therapy and supervise and examine bachelor's degree projects.
