About me
Biography
Marcus Sandberg is an Associate Professor in Construction Management and Building Technology at Luleå University of Technology. His research focuses on digitalisation, design automation, BIM, AI, and sustainability within the construction and real-estate sectors.
He leads and contributes to research projects that develop digital workflows for improving building sustainability, resource efficiency, and climate performance. His work includes generative design, automated carbon assessments, industrialised construction, and the integration of data centres within sustainable urban systems.
Before joining the construction research field, he conducted research in the aerospace industry, focusing on knowledge-based engineering, design automation, and optimisation of jet engines. His research is carried out in close collaboration with industry partners, public organisations, and other stakeholders to ensure practical impact and implementation.
