About me
I have been a PhD student in the field of Mathematics and Science Education since January 2022, within the research school PROFS (Practice-Based School Research).
Research
My main interest is teaching methods in mathematics, focusing on identifying approaches that engage students' mathematical interest, reasoning, and communication. In my doctoral project, I collaborate with upper secondary school teachers who implement a specific teaching method aimed at enhancing students' mathematical thinking.
Teaching
Most of my teaching is within mathematics courses and the practical teacher training (VFU) in the elementary teacher programs, for grades F-3 and 4-6. I also spend some time in the special education program and independent courses in special education, focusing on mathematics education.
Collaborations
As part of PROFS, I have acted as a scientific advisor for a group of high school teachers regarding student-active teaching. With Maria Johansson, a lecturer at LTU, I conducted a development project in mathematics at an elementary school (grades F-9). Since August 2024, we have been leading a development project in mathematics in collaboration with teachers at a high school.
Background
I originally trained as an upper secondary school teacher in mathematics and chemistry. After many years as a mathematics teacher in adult education, I further trained as a special education teacher in mathematics and took several courses in special education. I then worked as a special educator, with a strong focus on mathematics teaching, for four years at a high school before starting my doctoral studies.
