About me
I received my MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Luleå university of Technology in 1989 with a specialization in Applied Mechanics. I moved back to LTU after 1 ½ years as research engineer in aeromechanics at FFV in Eskilstuna to start my PhD studies in Experimental Mechanics. I presented my thesis 1995 on the topic Digital Speckle Photography, now more broadly known as Digital Image Correlation. After positions as Postdoc and Lecturer I was appointed full professor in 2003. Since 2004 I hold the Chair in Experimental Mechanics at LTU. I have published about 120 papers in international journals and contributed to two books on Speckle Methods.
My current research is primarily focused on experimental full-field methods in Material Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics and Production Technology. Dynamic properties of laser speckles and methods to isolate and extract information from these rapidly changing fields have been a long time interest. Current projects include three-dimensional imaging, true three dimensional strain fields and robustness in interferometric measurements.
I teach primarily in advanced level courses. On the Graduate level I give the courses Imaging, Correlation Optics and Modern Experimental Methods. On the undergraduate level I teach the course Technical Wave Physics. I am also responsible for the specialization towards Physical Measurement Methods and Sensorsystems within the Engineering Physics Programme.
