Mushfiq is working as a doctoral researcher in the Division of Machine Elements. He is a mechanical engineer with a strong focus in tribology and surface engineering. He is a graduate of EU TRIBOS+ program and holds a joint master’s degree from the University of Leeds and the University of Ljubljana.
His doctoral research focuses on the tribological optimization of water-based lubricants for next-generation electric vehicle transmissions. This project is being conducted in collaboration with Volvo Cars and SKF.
The project is strongly motivated by its potential contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its primary impact lies in improving the efficiency of electric vehicle transmissions, which directly supports several SDGs: Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
His current research interests include lubricants and lubrication systems, gear and bearing failure analysis, material testing and characterization, and high-pressure rheology.
