Lubricants are crucial for reducing friction and wear in mechanical systems. Unfortunately, once they reach the end of their lifespan, they are typically discarded or incinerated, resulting in a high environmental cost. Therefore, we must rethink how to better handle this non-renewable resource.
My research project, Oil regeneration towards a circular use of lubricants, investigates the tribological effects of regenerated lubricants, using SKF RecondOil's oil regeneration technology, and estimates their extended lifespan. The goal is to better understand the effects and benefits of the oil regeneration technology on lubricant performance. This will facilitate its widespread adoption and scalability, contributing to a more sustainable future.
