SUSBICO: New collaborations with longstanding partners
The group of Polymeric Composite Materials at LTU is starting work to develop novel green polyester resins within the SUSBICO project. The new resins would have competitive or better materials properties compared to the current fossil-based resins and possess promising commercial potential. As results of the project, deep understanding, and know-how about biomass-based polyester resins and their utilization in composite structures will be gained.
The project is a collaborative effort between Research Unit of Sustainable Chemistry at Oulu University and Polymeric Composite Materials group at LTU. The bilateral SUSBICO project is funded within Interreg Aurora program for a duration of 3 years.
“We have long collaboration history with colleagues from Oulu University within previous Interreg-funded projects, and the SUSBICO project is yet another sign of successful partnership” says Professor Roberts Joffe, the project manager at LTU side.
During the very first meeting at Oulu University, the partners looked into Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) to identify where results of the project will make an impact within common climate actions. As a result of this work, there is now clear idea about the project goals related to the SDGs. The coordinator of the SUSBICO, Associate Professor Juha Heiskanen, expressed gratitude for the efficient meeting and both partners are looking forwards to the first results within the project.
The work is only starting, and continuous updates on the project outcome will be available on the webpage of the project: https://www.interregaurora.eu/approved-projects/susbico/ Länk till annan webbplats.
