Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and Good knowledge in English, equivalent to English 6.

The selection is based on final school grades or Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test.

Course Aim
After course completion, the student should be able to demonstrate:
  • ability to describe the history of general and computerbased games.
  • ability to describe the main elements to create good playability
  • insight in game production and game mechanics
  • experience in solving games design problems

This course is designed to give the student grounding in: -The techniques used in games design and production. -A knowledge of the history of games in general and computer games in particular -A comprehensive knowledge of games structures as used in computer games. -Practical lab and workshop experience in solving games design problems Note: although games design is the principle focus of this course, the skill learned and knowledge acquired by the student have a wider field of use. The course will also cover the growing emergence of serious games and casual games.

Lectures and laboratory assignments

If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.
Contineous examnation through oral presentation/demonstration and written report of assignments.
