"The program opens up opportunities to improve and transform today's maintenance work"

Published: 9 February 2016

Jonas Lindqvist from Luleå 37 years studying for Bachelor of Science in maintenance technology at Luleå University of Technology.

Why did you choose to study maintenance technology?

The area is very broad as the need for maintenance is available in most industries. This opens up opportunities to improve and transform today's maintenance work when many companies today do not have an efficient and well thought out strategy for this. There is much to do and the job prospects are very good. This was the biggest reasons why I chose this education.

What are your plans after studying?

Before my studies I come from the labour market so my goal is to get out into work as quickly as possible again. As the industry's need for maintenance engineers is great as it applies primarily to decide which area is most interesting, which also can be developed and stimulating tasks.

Do you have any tips for future students at Luleå University of Technology?

Since it is a technical education I would recommend dusting up the mathematical knowledge when it is important to have a good foundation before the studies start as it gives a very pleasing start and a greater sense of security. It is never too late to start studying, if there is motivation and the right setting you will manage it.

Also positive is that there are plenty of activities for those who come from other places at this University and the transport possibilities are good in the city.
