Engaging with students in education
Many of our courses include specific assignments linked to business and society as part of the learning process. Giving an assignment to students in a course gives the students relevant experience and you get an overview of a problem and the opportunity to make early contact with future employees.

Recruit our students
Our students are highly sought after locally, regionally, nationally and even internationally. If you want to make contact with them in order to recruit after completing your studies, our recommendation is to network early and get involved in the students' education. This creates interest and commitment from both sides. Many of our students do not come from our northernmost region, which means that they already have roots in other parts of the country or even the world. Through close contact and dialog, you can showcase what awaits students after graduation in terms of exciting industries, companies and career opportunities.
Make your vacancies visible in the Ad Portal External link, opens in new window.. It's especially important to highlight jobs for new graduates - how else will students know how attractive they are and what opportunities are available?
Become a mentor for a student
Luleå University of Technology runs a mentorship program where students get a mentor in working life. The mentorship program aims to facilitate the transition from student life to working life. During an academic year, the student gets an experienced, professional person to discuss their thoughts and concerns with. The mentorship also highlights the breadth of industries in the region and gives the student an expanded network, which can contribute to more people staying on after their studies.
The program starts in September and runs until May. We are continuously looking for mentors for our students. Do you want to be a mentor or know someone who would be suitable?
Register your interest now - the application for the year 2024-2025 is open! Opens in new window.
Why should you become a mentor?
- As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to share your experience and knowledge and help another person develop.
- You will have the opportunity to network with both students and other mentors at joint mentoring events.
- You get an insight into what happens at Luleå University of Technology and what the programs look like.
- You get a good opportunity for recruitment to your own company.
- You get a chance to reflect on your own goals and ambitions, through mutual discussions about personal and professional development.
What is expected of you as a mentor?
- You are expected to meet your mentee on 6 occasions during the program and to participate in the joint meetings. You may have to pay for travel to the meetings if you do not live in the region.
- The mentee is the driving force, but there is a program with different themes and reflection questions to help you with the meetings.
- You encourage, support and act as a sounding board for your mentee. You are not expected to have all the answers, but you can help your mentee see their situation from multiple perspectives.
- Feel free to invite your mentee to your workplace, to a work meeting or any other event in your organization.
Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the program or other concerns.
