Master Programme in Data Analytics in Business and Economics

The programme has two entry tracks, and you choose track based on the main field of your bachelor’s degree. The programme consists of 60 ECTS credits of compulsory courses and leads to a Master of Science (60 credits) with a specialization in data analytics within either Economics or Business Administration. The programme is given in English.

During your first term you will gain a foundational understanding of key concepts and principles in data science methods. You will gain insights into how to extract useful information from large datasets using various techniques. You will learn to understand, and use collected information to identify patterns and anomalies, enabling you to conduct statistical and predictive analyses in business related cases. You will also learn to use large datasets to analyze economic problems with advanced statistical and econometric methods, such as advanced regression models, panel data models, methods for handling endogeneity, Big Data techniques, and text analysis.

During your second term you will deepen your knowledge in programming, algorithms, and data analysis. You will learn the programming languages Python and R, which are essential for analyzing data and discovering patterns and insights. You will build machine learning models for prediction, classification, and recommendation. You will understand how algorithms work and can be used to forecast future behaviors and outcomes. Additionally, you will learn about text mining, gaining knowledge in analysing large amounts of text sources to transform unstructured text into structured data to identify meaningful patterns and insights. At the end of your education, you will undertake a degree project, which some students pursue at a company. In the degree project, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills and make valuable contacts for your future career.
