Euromines visited the Swedish School of Mines
Euromines represents large and small companies and subsidiaries in Europe and in other parts of the world which provide jobs to more than 350,000 people. LKAB's CEO Jan Moström has been chairman of Euromines since 1 January 2023.
The visit to the Swedish School of Mines at Luleå University of Technology took place in connection with a four-day visit to northern Sweden with visits to LKAB/Kiruna, Boliden/Gällivare and Hybrit/Luleå with a focus on the green transition, mining, fossil-free steel production and energy.
"We at the Swedish School of Mines showed our laboratories and talked about our current and upcoming educations that we hope will attract students from all over the world," says Saeed Chehreh Chelgani, Associate Professor in Mineral Processing and head of the Swedish School of Mines at Luleå University of Technology.
Swedish School of Mines is an initiative to deliver the skills and competence for the whole mining and recycling value chain that the world demands through the green transition.
Within the framework of the Swedish School of Mines several master's and engineering programs as well as a new international bachelor's program are offerered. Swedish School of Mines gives students knowledge of the entire value chain in the mining industry and eligibility for in-depth studies within the master's programs.
The visitors also took part in lectures from Mehdi Parian, Associate Professor in Mineral Processing, about Micro-XRF. The Center of Advanced Mining and Metallurgy (CAMM) by Thomas Aiglsperger, Associate professor in Applied geochemistry and Thorkild Maack Rasmussen, chaired professor in Applied Geophysics. Swedish Mining Innovation was presented as well as the Nexgen SIMS research project, where the future of autonomous mines is being developed.

Strategic innovation program for the Swedish Mining and Metal producing industry
Euromines is the recognised representative of the European metals and minerals mining industry. The association's main objective is to promote the industry and to maintain its relations with European institutions at all levels. Euromines provides services to its members with regard to EU policy and serves as a network for cooperation and for the exchange of information throughout the sector within Europe. The association also fosters contacts with the mining community throughout the world.
