About me
Presentation
Is a researcher and teacher in physiology. Teaches mainly at the Health Guidance Program, where the students' receive a bachelor's degree in health promotion, but also physiotherapists, nurses and occupational therapists. Has worked at LTU since autumn 2012.
Background
Have always had a great interest in health promotion. In younger years I worked as a health educator in the Norrbotten County Council. Started jogging schools in Norrbotten in the early 1980s. Had jogging schools for 100's of women in Lindesberg 1986-88. Started as the first woman in the country Mommy-Baby Gymnastics for postpartum mothers. It was a collaboration between the Wellness Centre and Maternity care in Lindesberg. Has worked at Mid Sweden University and Uppsala University. Also operates for many years with my husband a education company, Reagea Health and Education.
Education
Teaches today mainly in physiology and especially stress physiology and worklife and stress, but also in exercise physiology. Teaches also science theory and research. Previously for many years taught anatomy and physiology, graviditesfysiologi, pathology, histology, statistics, clinical physiology, pharmacology.
Presentation of my research
My research focuses on the physiological changes related to stress, hormones and fluid balance. The title of my thesis is hormones and fluid balance during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum (2009).

After having taught stress for 12 years and at the request of students and listeners at lectures came the book "Stress, performance and recovery" to. This is thanks to the daughters Cecilia and Desiree with me constituted the editors. The book is currently used as a textbook, the hälsovägledarprogrammet and physiotherapy program at Luleå University and the independent course in Work Environment and Stress 7.5 credits. Author of the book beside me is Desirée Risberg, behavioral, Ewa Westman Med. PhD in immunology and Inga-May Sternberg, behavioral scientists with special expertise in stress and obesity. Illustrated images have medical illustrator Kari C. Toverud and Cecilia Risberg done.
The purpose of the book is to provide knowledge about how the human body works during stress, performance and recovery from a physiological and behavioral perspective. In the book, seen what affects one individual, how the body is controlled, how it interacts with the environment and how important recovery is for an individual to be able to maintain and strengthen their health.
Stress is not as negative as many think it is. The body has an appropriate stress response that helps you perform. Moreover, the body has a natural ability to provide support in terms of recovery and healing. The reason why stress-related diseases occur is because the body's stress response continually activated.
By learning about the body stress and performance axes, you can come to terms with stress and anxiety and can reduce the risk of suffering from stress-related illness. Moreover, this knowledge can also help you get more out of your workouts.
In the book are concerned about what happens in your body when you are exposed to different types of stress and how to manage stress based on your circumstances.
The book is intended among other things to the professionals who work with stress-related problems, such as doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, health counselors, human resources specialists, managers, but also people with a general interest in question can benefit from the book.
