Erik Bergqvist

Om mig

Erik Bergqvist is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics and Science Education and Program Director for the Secondary Teacher Education Program at Luleå University of Technology. He has a solid background in the Swedish school system, with seventeen years of experience as an upper secondary school teacher in mathematics and physics, providing a strong link between educational practice and academic inquiry.

His research focuses on the influence of students’ self-beliefs, motivation, and mathematics anxiety on learning processes. He is particularly interested in methodological challenges in empirical studies that investigate these factors. A central theme in his work is how instructional strategies and classroom interaction can help reduce barriers to learning and promote student engagement.
