About
Kateryna Utkina’s research focus is blue-green infrastructure in urban areas. In the on-going project she is responsible for social-economic assessment for various alternatives of blue-green infrastructure. In her work she applies the assessment tool B£ST (Benefits Estimation Tool) and this includes data collection, analysis, and treatment as well interpretation and comparison of benefits for better decision-making.
Kateryna Utkina is a contact person for the SI project "StormCompetence-Strengthening researchers’ professional competencies on stormwater management for renovation of UA city infrastructure in the post-war time" and a co-coordinator of DRIZZLE.
Kateryna has an interdisciplinary background in blue-green infrastructure research from her home university in Kharkiv, Ukraine. During her PhD studies until 2010, Kateryna developed a methodology for identification, evaluation, prioritisation and ranking of land-based pollution sources for the Black and Azov seas. Since then she has focused on waste management, nature-based solutions, ecosystem services and best environmental management practices for urban planning and supporting of policy-makers.
