My main research interest concerns the development of cognitive skills, language and reading ability in various populations of children, e.g. children with typical development, children with hearing loss, and children with reading difficulties.
I have a Ph.D. from Linköping University (2009) and my doctoral studies were about cognition and reading ability in children with profound hearing loss/deafness who use cochlear implants. During the years after my research focus has been on children’s developing reading strategies, in particular the transition from decoding words letter-by-letter to the instant recognition of whole written words. Together with colleagues at LTU, University of Oslo and Lund University, I run a research project on the effects of morphological training and it’s effects on reading ability for children in grade 2. The research is financed by The Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). I am also part of a PRECISE project investigating the effects of hyperacusis on social well-being and school performance in grade four children.
