General
PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering (2000) and Energy Engineering (2006); Lecturer at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University of Chemical Technology, P. R. Presently (since 2015), Professor in Energy Engineering, Division of Energy Science at LTU, Sweden. Group leader in the area of “Fluidic materials for energy applications”.
Awarded 2nd national prize for scientific progress from the former Chinese Chemical Engineering Ministry in 2001, Bundeskanzler-Fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany in 2003, and Nordea's scientific 2025 prize.
Research
Expertise: Almost 30-years’ experience of research and development in the area of Chemical Engineering and Energy Engineering. Worked in leading research environments in China, Sweden, Germany, and the United States, gaining broad experience in interdisciplinary research and international collaboration. Research work is from theoretical modeling and experiments to technology development, process simulation and integration.
Created a research group on “Fluidic materials for energy applications”, where CO2 capture and utilization (via electrochemical conversion), electrolytes for batteries, lignin electro-oxidation to promote H2 production have been intensively studied, together with CO2 transportation and geological storage. The research is mainly based on advanced fludic materials, including ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents.
Experience of disseminating results to stakeholders/end users: Extensive and close collaboration with industries and institutes, e.g., SEKAB, Cortus Energy AB, Stena Teknik AB, SMA Mineral AB, Smurfit Westrock AB, MultCon AB, Envigas AB, Future Energy AB, FutureEco AB, Harads Arctic Heat AB, Boden Business Park AB, Talga AB, SSAB, Skellefteå Kraft AB, Biogas Boden AB, Linde Gas AB, RISE and SWERIM, as well as local, regional, national, and international small to medium-sized enterprises (e.g., Sypox, Hydrogenious). Research results have also been shared or discussed with FutureEco AB, LKAB, Ovako AB, Outokumpu AB, Climeon AB, Bodens Energi AB, etc. Above 60 collaborative research projects where end users/stakeholders have participated in about 2/3 of the projects.

Supervisions: Supervised 16 post-docs (14 as the principal supervisor), 37 PhD students (25 as the principal supervisor), and numerous MSc and BSc students to exam.
Funding: As a main applicant or principal investigator (PI), got funding support from EU, EU regional funding, the Swedish Research Council, VINNOVA, Swedish Energy Agency, STINT, LTU strategy funding, Kempe, Åforsk, etc. as well as from national science foundation in China and AvH in Germany to support the joint research. In total 138 MSEK (13.8 M€) was granted to support her research since 2008.
