Master Programme in Music Performance

120 Credits, Programme, master's level
This programme provides students with the opportunity to both broaden and deepen their music creation and individual expression at a high level of professionalism, as well as to reflect on musical and artistic issues with a connection to the student's future profession as an artist.

The studies provides you with opportunities to deepen and develop yourself in an inspiring environment and prepare you for a professional career. An artistic bachelor's degree is a prerequisite for admittance to this Artistic master's degree programme.

Description

The programme comprises two years of full-time study and is taught in English, with individual instruction conducted in English.

During the second academic year, students present an artistic thesis in both musical and written form. 
Approximately nine weeks of the academic year consist of concentrated Master Weeks, in which both programme instructors and guest instructors participate. The group seminars concern central issues affecting musical creation and interpretation.
The School of Music in Piteå at Luleå University of Technogy offers an exceptional academic environment, considerable practice spaces, up-to-date recording equipment, and the world-renowned concert hall at Studio Acusticum.

You can study the following specialisations within the master programme: Conducting, Jazz Musician, Classical Musician, Rock Musician and Composition.

Labour market

The future labour market for graduates of the Master Programme in Music Performance is found within a diverse range of areas within the Swedish and international music and performing arts fields. Upon graduation, students are qualified to apply for research positions within the field of Musical Expression.
