Geohydrology
7,5 credits, course, master's level, G7012B
Application period starts 2025-09-15
This course provides the student with knowledge of groundwater theory that can be applied in areas such as drainage, drinking water supply, construction, foundation, dam safety, soil remediation, etc.
The focus of this course concerns testing and evaluation of groundwater occurrence and transport: how groundwater can be extracted or drained for various purposes, and problems with groundwater pollution. Upon the completion of the course the student is expected to be able to calculate groundwater levels and flow rate, determine the hydraulic parameters that characterize an aquifer design drainage, damming structures, and barriers for e.g., construction work, calculate leakage through dams, design wells describe methods used to prevent saltwater penetration, pollution transport in groundwater and leakage from waste storage.
