Meet Amirhossein Nayebiastaneh who came all the way from Iran to Luleå to study Master programme in Applied AI. Before coming to Luleå University of Technology he studied Electrical Engingeering with a focus on Control systems at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
What was your main reason to study at Luleå university of technology?
– The main reason for studying at Luleå University of Technology was to pursue my passion in a field I had always been interested in. Additionally, I aimed to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to secure a job in that field.
What are the best aspects of the programme?
– One of the best aspects of the program is its online accessibility. From attending lectures to participating in lab sessions and even taking exams, everything can be conveniently done online. This flexibility has been highly beneficial and convenient for students like me. And the most thrilling aspect of the program has been the hands-on practical labs, which have been incredibly informative and engaging. One of the most memorable moments was having the opportunity to work on a project focused on detecting vehicles in aerial images. It was an exciting and rewarding experience to contribute to this project and witness its success. The collaborative nature of the endeavor and the sense of accomplishment upon achieving our goals has made it a standout experience for me.
How was your first impression of Luleå when you arrived?
– When I first arrived in Luleå, during the beginning of fall, I was amazed by the incredible beauty around me. The colorful display of nature was stunning! Each tree had its own beautiful colors, making it a breathtaking sight. It felt like stepping into a heavenly paradise. What made it even more magical was knowing that I had reached a place so close to the pole. The sky was unbelievably clear, and it felt like the stars and planets were just within reach, hanging low in the sky. It was a truly amazing experience!
Have you noticed any cultural differences that have surprised you?
– Yes, I have observed some cultural differences that have surprised me during my time here. One specific instance that stands out is seeing Swedish people coming out in cold weather without wearing heavy layers of clothing. Initially, I found it quite astonishing. However, as time went on, I noticed a fascinating change within myself. Gradually, I felt that my skin got thicker, both metaphorically and literally, and I became more accustomed to the cold weather. It was an interesting transformation, and I was amazed at how I was able to tolerate and adapt to the chilly climate much more easily.
What are your plans for the future?
– In terms of my future, I aim to further my professional growth and make meaningful contributions to society. I aspire to continuously expand my knowledge in areas that captivate my interest, allowing me to stay updated with the latest advancements in my field. Additionally, I look forward to embracing new opportunities that will not only benefit my career but also enable me to positively impact the lives of others. Ultimately, my goal is to lead a fulfilling life where I can continuously learn, grow, and make a difference in both my career and personal endeavors.
